I work for a psychiatrist who occasionally does an initial evaluation in which he dictates that there is "no psychiatric diagnosis." The reasons vary as to why patients without any psychiatric issues come to him for evaluation. Some examples are:
1. Court-ordered psychiatric evaluations;
2. Evaluations prior to surgery (particularly gastric bypass surgery);
3. Psychologist/therapist referrals to determine if drug intervention would be helpful;
4. People needing psychiatric clearance for a potential employer.
I'm relatively new to this field and would just like to see what experienced coders use for a "no psychiatric diagnosis" in the above-listed situations. It would ease my mind greatly to know that I am coding these correctly.
