during vaginal delivery an area of the left leg and thigh are noted to be erythematous. Pt States she had mosquito bites in those areas. One at the inner thigh is suspicious for MRSA. Cultures were sent and dressing placed on the area.
can anything be billed in addition to delivery code?

There is no code for obtaining a swab for a culture so I would not not bill an E/M service for this, but rather wait for the results. If further care is required bill any follow-up E/M services with a modifier -24.
