A patient came into the clinic and needed a ct scan. Patient is allergic to contrast dye so received 2 meds IM prior to the ct scan. After ct scan patient was given normal saline wide open to flush dye due to allergy. On the clinic bill sheet the hcpcs code was circled but 96374 (IV start As description) was also marked but i don't believe that is accurate. Can the normal saline be charged for the purpose of allergy and in the clinic setting?
