Do any of you radiology guys know where I would find definite guidelines on Diagnostic Ultrasound, specifically codes 76885 and 76886. I am sure that you aren't allowed to bill these codes more than once, no matter how long you look at a patient or from how many different directions! I have been told that it's only one code no matter how many views. Can anyone verify that or lead me in the direction I need to look? My ortho practice just got an ultrasound machine and one of the peds wants to use it to look at dysplastic hips, while the other docs are using it for joint injections and identifying masses to see if they are cystic or solid. Oh, fun...something new!! In my research I do see where it is meant to be a bilateral code, so that much I know for sure!
