Dose a physician need to be in suite when a RN/FNP dose a Pessary insert? Or is this one of the procedures they can preform without direct supervision.

Thanks

An RN always must have direct physician supervision for services, meaning the provider that she/he is employed under must be in the office while there are patients being attended to. Having said that I am not certain that a pessary insertion is a procedure allowed for RN performance and if it is you need to be sure if direct supervision is enough or does it need to be "over the shoulder" supervision.

Thank-you. I have another question. I have another question. Would you happen to know where I could go to find out which procedures require the phycian to be on site and if the FNP/RN is allowed to preform a procedure?

Thanks again.
