A nursing home patient comes over to the hospital for outpatient PICC line tubing/dressing changes and to have an infusion started, but then the patient goes back to the nursing home once the infusion is started, so the hospital nurses don't oversee the patient during the infusion. (The patient has a continuous infusion that he has infusing all the time.) Can I add a cpt code for the infusion start, even though it's not monitored or stopped in the hospital outpatient setting?
