Hi all, question-one of our physicians saw a patient in labor & delivery at
the hospital as an outpt for bleeding and the patient was discharged home, then was admitted in patient and delivered on 12/23, are we able to charge anything for the 12/22 services or is that just part of the global ?
Thanks for any advise, Rebecca

Usually that is not part of the global and depending on the insurance, they may want to fight you on it but you will probably need to put a -25 on that charge to show it was not pt of the global and the documentation support what that charge is for being that the pt was seen at the hospital and was in observation and not just the dr's office. Usually those are billed out seperate from the global. Hope this helps
