If a Florida Medicaid patient who is 37 weeks labor, and a different hospitalists does the Admission H&P would I code an initial hospital E&M for that physician? I am new at this and need some assistance. If so what dx code do I use if there are no complications and the reason is for contractions and bad midwife experience

Hello,

Did you find out if the Hospitalist can bill for H&P when the patient is admitted for Labor and Delivery. We are in a similar situation where the hospitalist does the H&P and the attending physician is informed. Attending Physician delivers the baby.
Can we bill for the H&P by the hospitalist?

Still looking for a valid Dx to bill subsequent hospital visit by OB hospitalist. OB hospitalist are not patient's attending and did not deliver the patient. The delivery will be billed by patient's attending physician under a different Tax ID.

TIA
