I have a question from one of the OB docs. She was in L&D for 20 hours observing a patient who wanted a VBAC. The delivery was done by a nurse midwife but she was in the suite during the labor and also for delivery. How does she code her time?
Thanks,

The labor suite is essentially monitored by one or the other physician all the time. The VABC code necessarily belongs to the doctor who monitors or conduct the delivery. Leaving the patient for VBAC is the responsibility of the doctor.
She would code for her service with 59612.
Do I make a good sense?!
But, is not the time factor here applicable for the critical care services ?
