I'm having issues billing out observation at the hospital with Mississippi Medicaid insurance (Magnolia). I've always been told that to bill out any Medicaid observation that is under the eight hours I was to use 99218-99220. (Magnolia denies this) They are stating that I need to bill out 59425/59426 when the OB patient in observation at the hospital. I was under the impression that 59425/59426 are for the office only. Is this correct? Can it be billed under POS 22?
 
I don't bill for Mississippi but I can't understand why they would want you to bill those codes for a less than 8 hour observation stay. Those codes are for 4 or more antenatal visits which to mean means 4 or more separate dates of service. I wish you luck in your search to what they really need you to do to be paid for your services.
