I have never done OB before YET am taking a coding quiz for a new job (I AM certified!) and need help!!!

For NEWBORN's coding only!!! Do you code the delivery? (in this case a C-section) or not?

If not is it just a "v" code for the baby?

Finally, what if there was cord compression & fetal distress? Where do those diag codes go?

The question says just to code for the newborn...Help!!!! :-)

Janice - I have never done OB, but I have coded pediatrics - check out code V30 series remember to use 5 digits. If you are coding for the newborn only, the c-section is the 5th digit. Good Luck!

Hi Karen--thanks so much!

For you, or anyone: where, if anywhere (mom or newborn) do the issues of fetal distress & cord compression go? (newborn is fine!)

TY Again :-)
