I work in a radiologists office and I am needing assistance with the correct ICD-9 to use when an OB ultrasound is done and the reason for exam is:
SIZE DATES ANOMALY SCREENING
If you go to ICD-9 and go to screening, it leads you to V82.89 for anomaly, congenital. However, there is a group of codes under screening that read as antenatal screening, of mother. The argument is that we should not use the V28 codes in this case as they are suspecting an abnormality in the mother. Would someone with expertise in this area please help? Please let me know what documentation supports your reasoning, thank you!
