When 76801 is done, but no intrauterine pregnancy is identified, do you correct to limited study 76815?

Hi, the requirements for billing 76801 are in the cpt book at the beginning of the Obstetrical section. Since you wouldn't be able to meet those requirements - no gestational sac, amniotic fluid, etc. - yes, you would change to 76815. An OB u/s code is still applicable per CPT® Assistant, if an ultrasound is performed to evaluate pregnancy, it is always coded as an ob ultrasound even if that diagnosis is not confirmed. (This also applies to miscarriages.)
