I am new to OBGYN billing. I am needing some feedback on how the OB visits are tracked so there are not billed at every visit. I know much of this billing is global but needed some help on the flow of the visits and how they are tracked until time of appropriate billing.

We use the codes ROB and HROB (routine OB/High Risk OB) to indicate visits that are part of the antepartum global package with the V codes for supervision of pregnancy. They are a $0 charge, so the insurance is not billed. That way billing can track the number of prenatal visits, especially in the event the patient transfers care out or is a late transfer of care in, or their insurance changes part-way through the pregnancy and we have to bill a split global.
