Hi, I have a question about documentation for C-Section assist charges. We have a big practice that employs OB doctors and Midwives. When we have a C-Section delivery our midwives always assist our doctors. I've always billed the 59514-AS and made sure the OP report stated the midwife assisted. But I recently found out that the note can not just list the assistant that it needs to specifically say why the assistant was needed. Is this true? And can you direct me to what needs to be said in the OP report so I can share with my providers.
