Question on Observation - Provider places an order for observation around 10:00pm but doesn't see the patient until the next morning and then discharges the patient later in the evening. I am confused on what date of service to use and/or do we bill observation admit/discharge same day? Do we bill the observation admit on the day the patient was admitted to observation status or the day the provider sees the patient?
