When patient has been admitted to observation status by one physician
and then another physician is called in on same day, same place of service-observation status- to see the patient for his specialty would the use of code 99224-99226 be correct?
As onsultation codes can not be used.
The patient is an established patient with the consulting MD.
Any advise appreciated
 
99224-99226 are only to be used by the admitting physician. Anyone else that sees the patient while in observation would use codes in the 99201-99215 range as appropriate.
