Physician admits a patient to observation and discharges the patient the following day. The physician did extended counseling to the patient (11yr) and mother regarding anxiety issues. Physician notes she spent more than 30 min at time of discharge with the patient. Is there any add on code or modifies to reflect the extended time with the 99217 observation discharge code?
