we keep on getting claim denials (167) due to incompatible diagnosis code. 64450 and 64405 are for peripheral nerve injections. I'm wondering what dx code we can use instead?

Hi there, 64450 is for peripheral nerve blocks. 64405 is for greater occipital nerve blocks. If you're getting denials based on a dx code I assume that the payer doesn't cover the procedure/ICD-10-CM code combination and changing the diagnosis isn't the solution. I recommend reviewing the payer's policy to see if it has a list of covered diagnosis. If the provider is assigning an accurate diagnosis and it is not covered you'll have to talk to patients about paying out of pocket.
