I am in family practice. I have billed a 10060 with a 680.2 dx. Patient has to return within the 10 day global to have another I & D of the same abscess. Can I bill again and what code and/or modifier can I use?
Thanks, Nancy

Actually, the correct modifier is 58 if the I&D is at the same location. This is related to the first I&D as it is a more extensive treatment of the first I&D.

Modifier 78 will pay only at 50%. Modifier 58 will pay at 100% and restart the global period.
