I work for a family practice and we have a doctor who billed an office visit for a patient on a Saturday. We though he meant to bill a hospital visit since the charge came over to us as a hospital place of service. When we asked him he stated that he saw the patient in the parking lot of the hospital so the appropriate code would be an office visit. I wanted to see if anyone can help me clarify if he can bill his service and if so what place of service would we use: the office or hospital?
