patient was in rehab but came for an outpatient appointment for Dermatology, which was totally unrelated to in patient rehab, What modifier can be used. We submitted claim not knowing she was in rehab but need to do a corrected claim .
During a rehab stay, unless the patient was discharged and re-admitted, they remain in rehab, and the rehab organization is required to provide all services to the patient due to consolidated billing.
There's no modifier that I am aware of.....ideally your provider should have gone to the rehab facility to see the patient. You can't bill the rehab POS since you saw them in the office.
You can try to go after the rehab facility for the payment...they should have known better.
