I work for a walk-in facility. We see patients for illness and work related injuries. We are seeing a patient for an illness and a work related injury. My understanding is that the main reason for the visit should be billed such as if the work related injury is the main reason for the visit we bill them. The question I am being posed is can you bill the workers comp insurance for the work related injury and the medical insurance for the illness if the patient was only seen once. I dont think you can justify two visits because of two different diagnoses but need confirmation. Please help!!!

Technically they are two different visits. We have providers do two notes, telling the pt that their ins will be billed and a copay is due.
