What does one do with outdated coding book? They can't be used can they?

I have 2014, 2015 and 2016.

It's possible you may need them if working old claims. ICD-9 will still come in handy for Risk adjustment due to retrospective reviews.
 
I have the same situation. I always keep old books (for legal cases and audits) but I have so many extras I don't need and they're so expensive I hate to throw them out.

I gave a set to my local community college that can use some of them for training and for students who might not be able to cough up for the complete set of current books. Honestly, not that much changes from year to year that it could be a good reference resource. Especially the coding guidelines, diagrams, procedure explanations, etc.

I also had some extra AMA Symposium books that I just couldn't justify keeping around (as I've gone electronic with my office).

All that said, if anyone is in/near Suffolk County and wants any books, I'm giving them away.
