Hi there
I'm a new medical coder (not employed yet) and just purchased 2010
coding books. I have old ones, dated 2007 and am wondering what you do with the old coding books. Is there any use for them at all? I really don't want to keep them laying around if there's no need to.
Thanks!
Toni

We keeps ours up to 2 yrs back, because if we have returned claim due to coding we we have our old books to review from.

I keep them for a couple years. They are handy to refer back to with old claims or if one of the surgeons writes an outdated code on a fee slip, it can be researched easily.
