Hello,

i have this patient with ovarian cancer, who had interval debulking laparotomy; omentectomy + rectal & peritoneal nodule resection

i can't find the correct code ....

i thought of omentecotmy as 49255
and thought about using 49203 (Excision or destruction, open, intra-abdominal tumors, cysts or endometriomas, 1 or more peritoneal, mesenteric, or retroperitoneal primary or secondary tumors; largest tumor 5 cm diameter or less)

but both codes can?t be used together according to NCCI edits .....

any help?
 
49255 is a separate procedure and therefor cannot be billed with the primary procedure of the resection code. Are you sure on the main procedure code? if you are sure of the CPT code them you should be able to bill this code by itself. Often times due to the type of surgery the omentum may have to be removed so because it was not the main issue/ only thing that was completed it cannot be billed. Of course you always want to verify via CCI edits.
