Does anyone bill for On-Q? Only CPT I can find is unlisted abdominal procedure, service. There are no RVU's attached to this code, any suggestions?

you can try the unlisted code but my experience has been that it is unreimbursable for post surgical pain. it may be reimbursable if used for cancer pain treatment but previous pain relief methods have to have been tried. most surgeons just include the On Q in the surgical cost OR inform patients beforehand that it is not payable and bill the patient accordingly for a noncovered service. my experience was a few years ago so there may be newer information available from the patient's carrier regarding On Q.
