If my MD does an open I&D of hematoma then goes on the debride the hematoma site, do I bill the I&D and debridement or just the debridement? thank you.

Hello, a debridement is stated in our guidelines to report by depth of tissue. If the provider did not report this information in his documentation then you cannot bill for it. If the provider just stated that he did an I&D and did some debridement in that are, this documentation really does not substantiate the way our guidelines are written and the debridement would not be coded seperatly.
