Patient has a tumor which is infected and a lap band provided for obesity is removed by physician I via laparotomy. Physician II (who guides the laparotomy) decides to also perform a partial gastrectomy. Do you code physician I as an
assistant for the partial gastrectomy, or can physician I report an unlisted code for open removal of lap band? The port was removed later in the procedure by Physician II.
