Order states Thoracic AP x-ray to determine placement of leads location.

Report states that both AP/lateral were performed. When I e-mailed the center, stating we needed a corrected order for both AP/Lat....the manager wrote herself on the order AP/LAT DONE AT RADIOLOGIST REQUEST. Is this acceptable? I thought we could only use verbal and written orders.

Thanks.

Since the ordering physician only ordered one view, and two views were done, perhaps he/she would not do an amended order - it was not what they wanted.

You can't take the office manager's signature as authorization to change an order; and by the way she signed it, the ordering physician does not want to amend the order.

Do you have a policy in place as to how to bill if what was done was different than what was ordered? I would think you can only bill out the one view - but perhaps someone much more familiar with radiology could give better information.
