if our doctor orders a test for an inpatient hospital, i.e. myocardial perf stress test, can he charge for the odering? another dr. supervises & reads or one reads & another supervises. all our doc did was order it. he wants to charge for the test - 93016 & 93018. can this be done? his name appears at the end of the report under 'ordering physician' ???

No.

Look at it this way; If a doctor orders a patient to get an infusion of a drug as an inpatient, does he get paid for the infusion eventhough he didn't supervise the infusion, or even stick the patient to set up for the infusion.

Coding FYI:
Physician's get paid for the work that they do.
