Wiki Orthotic Billing For a Chiropractor

Good Morning,

Can anyone tell me if you bill Orthotics (L3020) the same as DME in a chiropractors office? Not specifically to Medicare, but in general. Meaning does it follow the same guidelines? Place of service 12, Date of service is when the patient picks them up, signature from patient required at pickup and letter of medical necessity necessary for billing? I'm trying to find clarification on this after watching the DME webinar here on AAPC and am coming up empty handed.

We bill for orthotics in our office. Check with your payer to make sure it is payable to your office or how it should be billed. Make sure your dx supports the need for orthotics (usually unequal leg length).
