I am confused? I was told I could not bill for using orthotic devices in my clinic, and then I heard that if the physician applies it themselves that I can. Is there any truth in any of this? Could someone please help and maybe let me know of resources that I could use to back up the truth. I would greatly appreciate it :)

as in you are wanting to bill for the device itself? You can if you have a DME number . Which is required for Medicare and many other payers. For your commercial carriers you will need to check first to see. Or are you wanting to bill for just the application, then yes it must be performed by the provider. But alot depends on what it is, why it was needed, and what code(s) you are wanting to use.
