When the physician states a patient is post menopausal and the findings of a bonde density test is positive for osteoporosis do we as coders make the decision to code 733.01 or should we code 733.00?

If a patient is on medication known to cause osteoporosis and findings are positive, again do we make the decision to code 733.09?

I think we should code 733.00 unless the doctor says that the osteoporosis was caused by the other factors.

What is your opinion?

Yes, you are correct. The physician should make note of some relation between osteoporosis and the cause.
