Hello,

I am a coder for outpatient services. I come across the following often and need
some advice how to code:

" Fecal material seen in colon". Would this be constipation? Fecal impaction??

Thanks!:o

You should not code fecal impaction or constipation if it is not documented. Is this found as a part of a colonoscopy? Are there complications due to " Fecal material seen in colon"? Are you concerned because the colonoscopy was discontinued due to " Fecal material seen in colon"?
