Please assist if you can. The surgeons are opening and closing pacemaker pockets for the cardiologists when replacing a generator or electrodes. Medicare does not allow co-surgeons in Ohio for these codes and the surgeons cannot obtain payment for their work. It is my understanding that Medicare is expecting this work be done by the cardiologists and the payment is included in the RVUs. Any other thoughts?
Thank you,
Watters

It is included in the cardiology/placement or replacement procedure. The cardiologists that I've worked for always did the entire procedure from open to close.
