I am fairly new at Pain Management coding, my boss asked me this question and I am not sure..HELP

If our group has same patient come for a Primary Care Visit with a NP and that same patient is then seen by the MD (specialist) for a pain related visit can 2 E/M be billed for those visits?

Yes, a separate E/M can be billed if documentation supports, as they would have different specialties/taxonomy codes. Had this type of scenario while working for an orthopedic practice w/ many different specialties. Only had problems w/ 2nd E/M with one payer who based their payments on tax ID of the facility.
