Have a coding question: My physician did a Excision left parotid deep lobe tumor with facial nerve preservation. He wants to use the 42420 code but that code is for entire gland but he said that is the closest code to what he did in surgery. I was thinking of using this code with a 52 modifier for reduced services since the entire gland was not removed? Thoughts?? I am leary of using this in case he would ever have to go back and remove that gland because the code says the entire gland was already taken (not sure if that would ever happen).
