Good morning,

Patient admitted to the hospital with PPROM and and stayed until giving birth 4 weeks later. Would you bill for the discharge with PPROM diagnosis?

Thank you.

Patient of ours was admitted to the hospital for PPROM on 2/3/26 and was there until 3/30/26, delivery was 3/26/26. Would you bill the discharge or not since she delivered, no longer PPROM. Insurance is Aetna. I was told if you bill the admit, you bill the discharge but in this case? She has no post partum complications.

There are rules for insurance on billing the discharge. If this is not your patient and you just did the delivery, admit and discharge. then you may capture them. But if this is your patient, then you can not capture the admit or discharge. The only time you can capture the admit is if the patient PPROM under 37 weeks and 0 days.
