If a patient was co-managed in 2021 for their first cataract, saw the surgeon's office yearly for cataract checks, and then reached the point they needed the second cataract removed in 2025, would they still be considered co-managed with the patient's signed co-manage contract from 2021?
Is there an "expiration" on the co-manage consent form?
We had an optometrist's office call stating the surgery should be co-managed, even though there was no co-management contract signed by the patient for the 2025 surgery. I would appreciate any clarification on this to educate my team and to follow the proper guidelines so we avoid "blanket co-management" arrangements.
