We have a few PCPs that are seeing subspecialty patients too. One is an Internal Medicine provider who see patients as a PCP on certain days and then sees patients as an Allergist on other days. Problem is, some insurance companys only have her credentialed as a PCP and will not pay the specialty prices and we cannot collect the specialty copay. Does anyone know how to work this. Do we need to obtain a second type 2 NPI for our group and credential her as PCP under one NPI and Allergist under the second NPI? The insurance companys will not recognize her subspecialty and PCP at the same time and they have basically told us tough luck.

Any help would be appreciated!!
