Hi everyone
I’m trying to code a procedure:
Patient had a GJ tube and went in because the G-tube portion was broken. It had been temporary replaced with a Foley.
Dr removed a G-tube over a guide wire and then put in a GJ tube.
I’m not sure if this should be coded with the root operation Change, which will only codes the insertion of the J-tube, percutaneous approach.
Or if it’s coded with two separate codes, one for removal of the G-tube, percutaneous approach, and the other for insertion of the G/J tube percutaneous approach.
The note does mention that it’s a conversion, but using just a single code doesn’t seem like it captures the entire procedure.
I’m probably overthinking it, but I coded it several times, and now my head is spinning Any help would be appreciated!
