If a doctor has seen a newborn in the hospital and later comes to the clinic is he considered a new patient or established patient. Are cpt guidelines the same for newborns? As we know the cpt guidelines state that a new patient is one has not received any professional services from the physician or another physician of the same specialty who belongs to the same group practice, within the past three years.
