This is for anyone with experience treating PI patients; specifically surgery. We are new to the PI business but it has been somewhat seamless since we primarily see patients via telehealth. However, we have a patient that requires surgery and everything blew up. Somehow the hospital our provider is credentialed with doesn't work with lien companies. The lien companies that we work with have denied our cost estimates. The poor patient is in pain. I told my boss that we should just refer him to a practice that is already prepared to handle this situation!

How do you handle personal injury surgery cases? Do you bill the at-fault party's insurance and then wait for payment? I know some insurance carriers will cover MVA/Personal Injury cases if a subrogation clause is included in the plan language but I am seriously at a loss.

I would really love to pick someone's brain about this whole thing...
