Patient had Arthroscopy, and ACL Reconstruction. Dr. did a "physeal sparing" and wants to know if there is a CPT code for this part of the procedure or is it included in the 29888?
First time I have come across this, so need some guidance.
Thanks

What specifically did the surgeon do? No specific code that I am aware of at least. My guess would be that you would bill 29888-22 if it added significant time/difficulty to the procedure. But let's see what he says.

There are two ways to perform this: Iliotibial band transfer, or All-epiphyseal method which uses nearly horizontal tunnels to avoid crossing the growth plates. I think it would be best to speak to your surgeon, find out which procedure was performed and if it was more time consuming or significantly more difficult than a regular ACL repair. I've never seen this before either and am not sure how these procedures compare to a standard ACL.
