Hello, not sure if this has been asked before but my physician stayed home one day but still had a few patients come to the office and she performed the office visit via telehealth (video). How does it work if the patient is in office but the physician is at home via video? Would it be POS 11 with a 95 modifier? Has anyone billed this before? Is it a regular telehealth?

Thanks kindly,

Janelly

Hi there, for Medicare you're going to report the visit with POS 02 because the patient was not at home for the visit. When the patient is at home you should report POS 10.

Thanks for your reply. Its a commercial plan. But what if the physician is at home? Patient in office with the physician via video. The M>A> took vitals and treated as an in office visit but the physician was at home.

Hi there, my answer was based on your scenario (physician at home, patient in the office). For commercial payers you'll need to check with the specific plan for how to handle that situation. And of course, the documentation must support an E/M office visit.
