Good morning.

I have a question regarding a physician signing another physicians dictation. We have a doctor that had to leave unexpectly and has chart notes that need to be signed. Can his partner sign these charts off with a line stating "Reviewed chart note only Dr A" or something along those lines.
I didn't think a doctor could sign another doctors chart but I thought I would ask.

No, a physician may not sign notes for another. The only documentation I can find right now in my files is from Medicare's Integrity Manual:

Reviewers shall NOT consider attestation statements from someone other than the author of the medical record entry in question (even in cases where two individuals are in the same group, one should not sign for the other in medical record entries or attestation statements)
