I work for the Kansas City CARE Clinic and we have general medicine, behavioral health, dental, and we have a separate HIV clinic. I'm new to this type of clinic, but I have a question about physical therapy. We have a physical therapy clinic and I need to know if I can bill an E&M code for the physical therapy visit?

I work in an outpatient physical therapy office and I use codes from the medicine section under physical medicine and rehab. We don't have an physicians on staff so we do not use the E/M codes at all for any services that we provide.

Thank you. I'm new to General Medicine so I wasn't sure, but I didn't think that we could do this. Again, thank you.
