Hi,
Hoping for assistance for this scenario. Patient has had a fracture, s/p ORIF. The Doctor now sends the patient for PT. In ICD-10 would we use the seventh character extension of D for subsequent encounter for the PT ?

It will depend on the healing status if it is healing as expected and it was a closed fx the yes a D if it was an open type I or Ii it will be E and open IIIA IIIB or IIIC then it will be an F. If it is delayed healing it will be a G, H, or J and if it is heal with residual condition it will be an S
