I just started working for a rheumatologist office that also offers physical therapy. Well the physical therapist here saw a patient twice on the same day for separate body parts (knee & neck) but used the exact same codes. Before I billed it off I knew it was going to be a problem, but I submitted the claim anyway. Long story short the claim came back denied as it should have, is there a modifier I can add and submit medical documentation to show that the work that was performed was on different body parts or should the physical therapist have just seen the patient on separate days? Also the insurance co is BCBS.
